Tater Update

feature photo

With the sudden loss of Bodhi last weekend, getting Tater to the vet for an exam and bloodwork was first on our list today. Tater and Bodhi had been in the same racing kennel and came home on the same day, so anything Bodhi may have been exposed to, Tater probably was as well. The great news is that she was given a clean bill of health on her general exam and her bloodwork came back within normal limits for everything. I also opted to have a pre-surgical blood panel sent out (she needs to have that done for her spay anyway), and we’ll get that back tomorrow…but we don’t expect to see anything unusual there.

So, we are relieved that Tater is completely healthy at the moment and showing no signs outward (or inward) of being sick. Hopefully this bodes well for the general health of the pack. I won’t rest easy until we get test results back from Cornell, but that may take a week or so. And we may never know what took Bodhi so quickly and tragically from us. :(

  1. Hi Heather, I hope today is a better day for you and Ken. I am happy to hear that Tater has a clean bill of health. I too was concerened about her being exposed to whatever Bodhi had. Respiratory infections can go undetected in humans and animals until it is a serious situation. I’ve experienced that a couple of time. Bodhi was beautiful greyhound and I wish I had gotten to see him.

  2. Oh Heather, I am so sorry. All I can say is life stinks sometimes. We had a year like that last year and I just lost my very first greyhound last month, equally as unexpected and just as fast.

Even when you have a big pack like we do, losing one completely takes takes the wind out of your sails. But, you know you still have a big family to take care and somehow you just keep going.

Take care of yourselves and your babies.
